Metsblog.com the Best!

Props to Matthew Cerrone for having the best blog http://www.metsblog.com along with mlbtraderumors.com. I can't see any reason to pay for ESPN Insider when you can get everything from mlbtraderumors and Matthew Cerrone definitely breaks down the Mets better than anyone. I peak in on it several times a day during Hot Stove! Also, congrats to Mike Francesa of WFAN for being the first to break the Jason Bay signing news. Even teased about it the night before! Still hoping for a pitcher and a catcher and maybe a swap for Luis Castillo. Would love to have Hudson at second. Happy New Year, hope someone will be reading this at some point ! :)

Crazy Trade Rumor?

Saw on www.Metsblog.com that Bleacher report is offering up a rumor that the Mets are involved in trade negotiations with Cubs and a possible third team that would send Luis Castillo to Chicago and Carlos Zambrano to the Mets. Not sure I want Zambrano after his sharp decline but if all your giving up is Castillo it's a good risk. Zambrano certainly has the potential for having a comeback season and being a #2 after Santana. Castillo had a good 2009 but how much longer can you get that kind of production from him? His defense seems a little suspect these days as well. Love the idea but I suspect the rumor is just that. We'll see! http://www.metsblog.com/2009/12/30/buzz-rumors-the-mets-carlos-zambrano/

Mets in 2010

Well I like the signing of Bay but....we need so much more. I have to wonder whether the money should have gone into more pitching. Bay excites me in addition to a healthy Beltran and hopefully a rejuvenated David Wright. But, how can you overlook the fact that we have Oliver Perez pitching and Jonathon Niese? The Mets should be a 80 something win team that may have a slight chance of competing for the wild card, but, they are a long way from catching up to the Phillies or for the back page rival Yankees! That said, I think you have to be encouraged with this move alongside Reyes coming back (hopefully near 100%) and John Maine looking more like he did a few years back. I'm very worried about the pitching, how will Santana rebound from injury? Will we sign Joel Piniero? Lots of unanswered questions. But, I disagree with those who talk about the Bay signing as the Mets "shooting another blank". http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AlSTnqajyCzHWPjgk674LzsRvLYF?slug=jp-metsbay122909&prov=yhoo&type=lgns. On the whole something to cheer for this morning.
